When I heard Megatron was retiring, I was a bit surprised. He was relatively young at 30, still able to take some plays.
Anyway, he gave interview recently on espn.com posted below, really shed some light.
I respect his decision, as he wanted to take care of himself for the future. Football is a dangerous, physical game, and he made his choice. No one doubts of his contribution.

Some Stuff On .... 3 Last Minute Winning Touchdown Plays
In honor of the Packers miracle win against Detroit, I thought it would be nice to put in a few of my favorite last second touchdowns of the games I actually watched :D
But first, the play from that win .....
Now back to my list ...
1) DeSean Jackson (Giants vs Eagles) Week 15, 2010
2) Music City Miracle (Titans vs Bills) Playoffs 99
3) Manning to Plax SuperBowl XLII ..... one of best TD winning SB drives of all time
--------
Again, the Broncos drive that knocked out the Pats from unbeaten status here
